What to say about myself. I was born in north Tennessee, but only because our local Kentucky hospital wasn’t birthing babies at the time. I grew up and went to school in rural southern Kentucky.
When college rolled around, wouldn’t you know it, I went to a school in Kentucky (Western Kentucky University). I majored in Design (as an art, not marketing). While there, I made sculpture, pottery, oil paintings, and many many many charcoal drawings. I took more art history than I can recall. I excelled at digital art and had a great time.
What else? As an adult we moved to Nashville, TN. I love cycling, playing ukulele, and pottery whenever I get the chance. I miss our weekly pottery classes and hope to get back into it someday.
In late 2022/2023, we moved with our pups from Nashville to Split, Croatia. The pace of life seems better so far and I love being able to walk to bakeries, markets, and historic sites.
I’m an experienced software engineer. I love figuring out how things work and how I can build rad software to make them work better. I now proudly work for Autodesk Construction Solutions who have been amazing throughout a very difficult time in my life and our subsequent choice to live as digital nomads. In the past, I’ve built software for Eventbrite, medical software, qualitative research, point-of-sale, and manufacturing.
I’ve come to believe my legacy in software will not be the software I’ve left behind. Rather, the long list of previous coworkers and friends from whom I’ve learned and who I’ve mentored into higher roles. We’ve built some great things - the greatest of which have been ourselves and our teams.
