In the summer of 1970, "In the summertime" by Mungo Jerry stayed at number one on the charts for six weeks. It's fun as hell, but the lyrics are "a time capsule from another era" meaning either racist as shit or sexist as shit. In this case, sexist. Still, it's vibing.

There are a couple more era bits.

Mr. Blue Sky by the incomparable ELO / Jeff Lynne. I've been practicing this one on ukulele, it's a blast!

Billy Joel (you know it's "we didn't start the fire"). "Running up that hill" because Stranger Things reminded the world it existed. "Dreams" because of Ocean-Spray-Feather-Tattoo-Skater guy (respect).

Special acknowledgement to Motor Mouth Mike in the Morning (Dave Foley on the new Kids in the Hall) for introducing us to "Brand New Key" by Melanie Safka circa 1971 (what's with this date continuity? Unintentional). It's just adorable except in context it's creepy as shit. Slow clap, Dave I know I know.

And to highlight one banger that isn't so thematic, check out "Boyfriend" by Dove Cameron. Very very catchy.
